This is my second attempt…

This is my second attempt at using Jott to transcribe my post. So far, it seems easy and the program just takes what I say and converts it to text so that I don’t have to type it out. I hope this works well because if it does, it will save me a lot of time. However, I find listen

Photoshop Post Work, Before/After

This is a little demo I put together to show some before and after post work. Its not a true before/after though because Mindy handed me this image white balanced and color corrected (as seen in the before shot).

Just to be clear, you will notice the female had some body altering modifications, I didn’t do this because I thought she “needed it” I did it to test my abilities and ultimately make the client happy.  This bride also happened to be sitting kinda wonky at a weird angle so I tried to make her posture look a little more flattering.

Hardest thing on this image was the intense sun burn removal.  I found that an adjustment layer masked in with the magenta down about 17% worked best.  Then after that softened the bikini lines with healing brush, then finally applied some general skin retouching.

SurvivalReview.com! Getting some traction!

So I have been messing with a new project for the last few days.  I created a new blog for survival and outdoor gear reviews called Survival Review.  It has been fun and today I checked my stats and so far this has been the easy blog I have ever launched (as far as getting some traffic rather quickly).  Within about 5 days I jumped up to around 2000 unique visitors a day!  Thanks to stumbleupon and a few other bloggers that linked to me (including a cool write up at popularlogistics.com).  Hopefully I can keep motivated and watch this thing grow.  If anyone reading hasn’t checked it out yet just go over to www.survivalreview.com, and PLEASE leave a comment or something :)

Nashville Wedding Photography Blog

As if you don’t know already I am 50% of the dynamic duo that is Thornton-Photo. Well I am using this moment to shamelessly plug our frequently updated photography blog over at MindyandPhil.com . We have had a busy year so far and have shot a number of local Nashville weddings, portraits and even most recently a Nashville Sweet 16 party which turned out to be a ton of fun. So head over there and check out the photos if you haven’t already.

Mention that you read pixelkicker.com for 2 free 8×10 prints on any local Nashville Thornton-Photo photography session! Woo Hoo!

New Studio Backdrop Tip!

$57! Thats all I spent this last weekend on a pro studio back drop setup. The thing to do is just head to your local pro photo gear shop OR hit up www.bhphotovideo.com and order your 9′ x 32′ (or smaller) roll of seamless backdrop paper ($40) and then stop by the Home Depot or equivalent and pick up a 10′ piece of copper pipe (I bought the 1inch stuff, $17). Take it home, cut off about 10″, drill holes at the ends and throw the thing on top of 2 light stands (sure, i know, the light stands I already had, you may not) and you are done! Some quick shots “photobooth” style we did with the new setup. (lighting: 1 Alien Bee 800 with 4″ Octobox, diffuser off about 3 feet away from subject)
